Abstract

Cloth tape measures are primarily used in low-precision measurement fields such as land surveying, construction, geodesy, agriculture and forestry, water conservancy, mining, underground operations, and sports. They are lightweight, easy to use, durable, and inexpensive. This article introduces the application of the Xiongshi XB4 cloth tape measure in physical education classes. Drawing a shot put circle Fix a point, wrap a wooden stick around one end of the tape, and pull the tape taut to draw the required throwing circle by making a complete loop. Drawing a long‑distance shot put arc One person fixes a point, while another pulls out the desired distance to draw an arc; repeat as needed. Drawing the starting line for field events Extend the Xiongshi cloth tape measure horizontally and vertically, mark the desired number of lanes with chalk, and then draw the field event registration area along the direction of the tape. Measuring height Extend a 2‑meter cloth tape measure and affix it to the wall to measure each student’s height individually.
