The surface of the dipstick tape must be clean, free of rust, stains, and bends; the edges of the tape should be smooth and neatly finished.
The scale markings on the tape must be uniform, clearly visible, and perpendicular to the edge of the steel tape.
The dipstick must be equipped with a weight to ensure it can sink into the liquid being measured. The weight shall be made of brass or stainless steel.
